Chinese New Year 2025

The Chinese community in Budapest invites you to join us in the celebration of Chinese New Year of the Snake, in Budapest’s Chinatown, on 18-19 January 2025.
🐍Highlights of the 2025 edition
👉The first Chinese new year celebration after being listed as UNESCO intangible heritage
👉Two Chinese cultural delegations will be visiting Budapest, bringing many new entertainment and handicraft programs
👉35 new hanfu outfits for the guests to cosplay for free.
👉7 cultural programs to be shown for the first time ever in Hungary
🎵Stage performance:
Day 1 (Jan. 18)
10:00-11:45 Entertainment programs: lion dance, dragon dance, Gala Show by Jilin delegation (Peking opera, Monkey King’s kung-fu show, folk dance, circus show, Chinese instruments, etc)
13:00-14:00 Jiaozi making and cooking workshop
14:30-16:00 Gala Show by Jilin delegation: Peking opera, Monkey King’s kung-fu show, folk dance, circus show, Chinese instruments, etc
Day 2 (Jan. 19)
10:00-12:00 Entertainment programs (lion dance, dragon dance, Yu opera, Chinese instruments, traditional dances, qipao, taichi, etc)
13:00-14:00 Jiaozi making and cooking workshop
13:30-15:30 Handicraft workshop(Kaifeng delegation): Xylography poster for new year, blown candy, Kaifeng Lantern, Chinese Kite, royal-school butterfly drawing.

🎁If you share our event to your own social media, you can get a free gift at the information desk during the event time (10:00-16:00, Jan 18-19, 2025)
👉Free admission. But tea tasting and some DIY programs charge basic fees for the tea cup and materials. Please pay attention to the price banners on the site.
🚘 Free parking: there will be a temporary big parking lot next to the venue, specially reserved for the event guests. Guests can get access into the courtyard directly from the parking lot. Please see the map in the “discussion” section.
🚌🚲Chinatown is easily accessible via Budapest public transport(3; 28; 62; 75; 95) or by train(Kőbánya Alsó Vasútállomás) or by bike (cycling lane along kőbányai út). The nearest stations are Mázsa utca, Mázsa tér, Kőbánya alsó vasútállomás.
